Mardi Himal Trek

The Mardi Himal Trek is a recently initiated route that takes you to a previously undiscovered paradise in the Annapurna Region. For those who want to avoid the crowd, this trek is best suited for you. This trek offers astounding glimpses of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchare and Manaslu ranges. The prominent features of this trail are Mardi Himal Base Camp, Sidhing Village and Lwang.

After a one hour drive from Pokhara, the trek commences at Kande. The trail first makes a gradual ascent followed by a more challenging climb to Australian Camp at 2060 meters, then slightly downhill to Pothana at 1950 meters and then a climb to Deurali at 2100 meters. Taking a right turn in Deurali the trail passes through lush jungle, first climbing and then undulating on top of a ridge. You come to certain section midway when the trail descends sharply and gradually climbing back up to the ridge till you reach Forest Camp at 2600 meters. On leaving Forest Camp, the climb is quite steep but gets more gradual as you make your way to the ridge. The trail follows Low Camp through the jungle, but the trees become less significant and an hour's hike you emerge from the forest and onto the open ridge to witness breathtaking views of Machhapuchare in front of you and Annapurna South to the left. You can continue trekking for 4-5 hours along the ridge to Mardi Himal Base Camp at 4500 meters and make your way back to High Camp in 4 hours. Although this makes up for a fairly long day, the reward is a viewpoint halfway. Then it is back to Low Camp, followed by a hike to Sidhing, Ghale and Lwang Villages. Head back to Pokhara from Lwang.
