From the Lukla airstrip, the trek takes us through enchanting Sherpa villages and stunning panoramic mountain views to the base of Ama Dablam. The name Ama Dablam translates to “ mother” and “necklace” . The hanging glacier resembles a “dablam” which is a piece of traditional jewellery worn by the Sherpa womenfolk. Very few trekkers can be seen in the Ama Dablam Base camp area ( 4575 m / 15,013 ft ) as most tend to venture on the main Everest trail and beyond. Thus, while staying in the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar and admiring the panoramic views of Everest and visiting Thyangboche Monastery, we have the privileged sense of being isolated while passing through more serene trails.
We spend two nights at the chic Dwarika’s heritage hotel and get ample time to relax and explore the exuberant life of Kathmandu.
