Machapuchare Ridge Trek

Towering above the town of Pokhara and its tranquil lakes is the iconic fluted peak of Machapuchare ( It resembles a fin or tail of fish and has been aptly named so). It is therefore, easy to identify from the other peaks of the Himalayas. Not so well known is the magnificent trek on the serene trails to Mardi Himal, located along the south west ridge of Machapuchare. After the short  flight into Pokhara from Kathmandu, we take a short drive to the village of Kade located on a ridge top to start the trek. The area here sees fewer trekkers than any other part of Annapurna, thus tea house accommodation is not common – therefore, each night we will put up cosy and comfortable tents. For three days we will make the ascent to Mardi Himal ‘high camp’ from where we can get superb views of the Mardi River and the Annapurna Range. A day’s hike will take us to the Mardi Himal Base Camp ( 4250 m / 14,025 ft ) right under the majestic giant Machapuchare to get spectacular views of the Annapurna Sanctuary. We then return to Pokhara.
