About Tibet

Popular Destination in Tibet

Famously known as 'The Roof of the World' and isolated from the rest of the world and the region during the days of the Empire, Tibet gradually opened its doors; Tibetans shunned contact with the outside world when they were an independent country before China imposed its rule.

Tibet is a vast plateau that is roughly the size of western Europe with most of it being barren landscape dotted with prayer flags and monasteries and resting on the lap of northern greater Himalayas. Its reverence of Buddhism and retention of culture and language are key reasons why travelers are encouraged to seek out this mystical land.

The journey over land from Kathmandu to Lhasa follows the trade route that has been used by Tibetan and Nepali traders for thousands of years. You will also encounter countless hot springs en route. Lhasa is also home to the 'Potala' or the former palace and abode of the His Holiness the Dalai Lama – this architectural, cultural and religious wonder has now been converted to a museum.

Adventure Steps Pvt. Ltd. offers you a chance to experience this journey of a lifetime and has a choice of holidays and packages that will cater to your needs and budget.
